TRANSFORMING HOW
THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE
USES RESEARCH AND
EVALUATION DATA

THE CHALLENGE

The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Evaluation and Prototyping Hub wanted to improve the way they track, prioritise and connect research conducted by internal researchers and external academics across the Justice System.

Enabling the team to prioritise its research agenda, so they can align their resources and answer the most important questions in a robust way, while saving time and money in a self-reliant process.

We’re hoping it will be something of a game-changer in terms of quality and accountability of research across the Justice system helping to improve outcomes for vulnerable people.”

WHAT WE DELIVERED

OUTCOME

The roll out, managed internally by the MoJ is ongoing and early feedback has been positive. Once fully rolled out, the Research and Evaluation Database should become an indispensable tool and enable the Hub to:

  • Prioritise its research agenda
  • Optimise resource management across regions through the user of self-service PowerBI dashboards and a data reporting function, minimising the risk of overburdening certain locations with research requests
  • Increase departmental awareness of ongoing evaluations minimising the risk of overburdening certain locations with research requests
  • Easily extract management information for reporting
  • Provide real time response to information requests
  • Improve outcomes through enhanced partnership and joined up working between internal with external researchers
  • Save money by preventing duplicate research and evaluations
  • Save time by automating processes removing high levels of manual data processing.
